TRS Alumni Corey Taite makes COBL D-2 All Rookie team

An outstanding debut season for Goldey-Beacom’s Corey Taite (Sayreville, NJ) saw him earn a spot in the City of Basketball Love Division II Men’s Basketball All-Rookie Team.

A dynamic guard with plenty of upside on both ends of the floor, Taite closed 14th in the country with 2.15 steals per game, 24th with 58 total steals and led the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in both.  He also was 18th in the league with 13.9 points per contest, sixth with a .805 free throw percentage, 15th with 2.8 assists per game and third on the team with 3.8 rebounds per contest.

Taite scored in double figures 21 times, including 26 points in the home finale February 20 against Wilmington (DE).  He also had nine rebounds February 13 at Caldwell, eight assists November 14 vs. New York Tech and enjoyed a six-game run of scoring in double figures from December 31-January 20.

The three-time CACC Rookie of the Week and three-time league Weekly Honor Roll pick, Taite cracked the school’s single-season record book as he is eighth with 103 made free throws and eighth with 58 steals.

Goldey-Beacom last season played a challenging schedule in which six games were against four different NCAA Tournament squads.  The Lightning also played competitive exhibition games against Division I Coppin State and Morgan State that had them prepared for the season before being eliminated during the league’s penultimate matchday.
