Congratulations to Robinson School Alumni Joshua Cohen, Johnson and Wales University (NC) first 1,000 point scorer in their history

Durham, NC – Senior Joshua Cohen reached the 1,000 point mark for his career as the Johnson & Wales men’s basketball team nearly shocked NCAA Division 1 opponent North Carolina Central, falling 78-70 on the road.

Cohen scored 16 points on the night for the Wildcats (5-8), pushing his career scoring total to 1,010.

North Carolina Central led for most of the first half, but Johnson & Wales would keep the score close.  The Wildcats eventually took a three point lead with 2:02 remaining in the period on Cohen’s layup.

The hosts would respond with a 7-0 run to close the half – marking the last time the Wildcats would lead.  The remained close throughout, however, and the Wildcats found themselves down by just six with 22 seconds remaining in the game.

Rickey Porter finished tied with Central’s Jeremiah Ingram for top scoring honors with 18 points.

Michael Cuthbertson added 16 points for Johnson & Wales while Nicholas Crawford finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.

The Wildcats will resume play on Jan. 11 when they travel to Laurinburg, NC, to play St. Andrews University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
